John Dumelo, a Ghanaian politician who was once an actor, has been elected to the parliament and will serve as the representative for Ayawaso West Wuogon.
Dumelo received 40,561 votes to win the 2024 Ghana general elections, which were conducted on Saturday and were held on the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
After garnering 27,377 votes, Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the incumbent, was beaten by him.
His near loss to Alhassan in the 2020 elections preceded this victory. Now forty years old, Dumelo thanked his followers and pledged to fulfil his campaign promises.
Dumelo said, “The people of Ghana have been demanding change and have demonstrated that they will vote you out if you don’t perform well or if you are conceited.”
Everyone can learn a lot from this lesson,” he continued. It is about the development of the people and meeting their needs, not about money.
Additionally, he promised to put in a lot of effort during the following four years to influence significant change and steer Ghana in the right way.
The 1991 movie Baby Thief marked the start of Dumelo’s acting career. The King is Mine, Away Bus, The Game, Black Men Rock, One Night in Vegas, and Four Play are just a few of the Ghollywood and Nollywood films in which he has since starred.
