Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, is en route to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of a $315 million oil production and storage facility. The project, acquired by the Nigerian-owned Oriental Energy Limited, will be officially launched on December 14, 2024.
Following the Dubai event, VP Shettima will travel to Saudi Arabia for the Lesser Hajj (Umrah), visiting the holy cities of Madinah and Makkah from December 16 to 19, 2024.
On December 20, 2024, the Vice President is set to meet with the president of the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah. Their discussions will focus on financing arrangements for the second phase of Nigeria’s Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) and improving the coordination of the bank’s projects in Nigeria, aimed at advancing agricultural and economic growth.
VP Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria by December 21, 2024.
Earlier on Friday, the Vice President attended the wedding Fatiha of Ibrahim A. Bagudu, son of the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, and his bride, Amina Tatari Ali, at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna. VP Shettima also observed Juma’at prayers at the mosque and was welcomed in Kaduna by Governor Uba Sani.
Accompanying the Vice President were Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Zulum, and Special Adviser on General Duties Aliyu Modibbo.
