Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State and the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governors’ Forum, has encouraged President Bola Tinubu to rid his administration of what he called “excess baggage.”
Governor Mohammed claims that although governors trust the president to lead, some cabinet members’ activities are hurting his efforts.
He emphasised the necessity for swift action by saying the president must “throw away the excess baggage.”
As the main guest at the 14.1-kilometer Umuakali-Eberi Road’s commissioning in Rivers State’s Omuma Local Government Area, Governor Mohammed made a statement.
He pointed out that governance, not politics, should be the main priority in all states.
He expressed confidence in Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s capacity to lead successfully and praised the governor for providing good governance despite political obstacles.
Based on his observations, he stated that he is no longer concerned about Governor Fubara’s performance or how the public views his government.
Governor Mohammed complimented Governor Fubara’s remarkable character and leadership style for his poise and maturity in managing the state’s political issues.
He said that Fubara is a perfect example of how political longevity is not a measure of political maturity.
The governor of Bauchi State also counselled politicians to know when to let the younger generation take over, stating that Governor Fubara is more of a “field marshal” than a “general” due to his accomplishments.
He appealed to Rivers residents to back Fubara for a second term in 2027.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara thanked the Omuma people in his speech for their steadfast support, particularly during the state’s political crisis’s intensification.
He credited the people’s combined efforts and the support of important political figures for the smooth running of his administration.
The Umuakali-Eberi Road project is important for their development, he said, and he thanked Governor Bala Mohammed for accepting his offer to begin construction.
Reiterating his pledge to keep his campaign pledges, Governor Fubara emphasised that his goal is to generate competent men and women who can propel quick development rather than elevating personalities.
Governor Fubara declared plans to replace Local Government Chairman Promise Reginald in the renovation of the region’s secondary school and medical facility as part of his developmental strategy.
Reiterating his commitment to provide excellent government, he also promised to rebuild additional roads in the region.
