Liverpool fought valiantly to earn a 2-2 draw against Fulham at Anfield on Saturday, despite playing most of the match with 10 men after Andy Robertson’s first-half red card. Diogo Jota marked his return from injury with a late equaliser to salvage a crucial point for the Premier League leaders.
Andreas Pereira gave Fulham an early lead, capitalising on Antonee Robinson’s cross in the 11th minute. Liverpool’s task grew harder when Robertson was sent off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Despite their disadvantage, Liverpool roared back after the break. Cody Gakpo headed in Mohamed Salah’s pinpoint cross just two minutes into the second half to level the game.
Fulham looked set to claim victory when Rodrigo Muniz deflected in Robinson’s cross in the 76th minute. However, Jota, making his first appearance since October, equalised in the 86th minute with a clinical finish in the box.
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker then preserved the draw with a crucial save from Adama Traore.
The result keeps Liverpool atop the Premier League table with 36 points, five ahead of Chelsea, who could close the gap to two points with a win against Brentford on Sunday.
