Phrank Shaibu, special assistant to politician and former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar on public communication, has counselled Vice President Kashim Shettima and those who are condemning Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the UK’s Conservative Party, to spend their time on more constructive endeavours.
His reaction follows Shettima’s criticism of the recently elected UK Conservative Party leader for demeaning Nigeria at the 10th Annual Migration Dialogue held at State House in Abuja. Shettima even proposed changing her name.
“Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the British Labour or Conservative Party,” the vice president stated. Despite her attempts to disparage her country of origin, we are proud of her.
“She is entitled to her own opinions; she has even every right to remove the Kemi from her name, but that does not underscore the fact that the greatest black nation on earth is the nation called Nigeria.
“One out of every three, four black men is a Nigerian, and by 2050, Nigeria will surpass the United States and will be the third most populous nation on earth.”
In the race to succeed the former British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, in 2022, Badenoch had accused Nigerian politicians of using public funds for their private matters.
“She is free to hold her views, and she even has the right to remove the Kemi from her name, but that doesn’t change the fact that Nigeria is the best black country in the world.”Nigeria will overtake the United States as the world’s third-most populous country by 2050, and one in three or four black men are Nigerian.
During the 2022 contest to replace former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Badenoch had charged Nigerian lawmakers with embezzlement of public monies for personal purposes.
Additionally, Badenoch stated at the Conservative Party convention that her childhood in Nigeria was dominated by instability and terror in a corrupt nation.
However, Shaibu told individuals who were attacking Badenoch to take time to reflect before diving into Saturday’s controversy.
On his X handle, he commented, “Those criticising @KemiBadenoch ought to take a moment to reflect.” She is not necessarily Nigerian just because she has Yoruba ancestry, or his name is Kemi. Ultimately, Gabriel Jesus @gabrieljesus9 of Arsenal is not divinely ordained. @officialSKSM ought to find a productive way to spend his time!
