The Nigerian government has flagged off the construction of a state-of-the-art and technologically advanced divisional police headquarters in Abuja, emphasising its commitment to developing a world-class police force that is inclusive, intelligence-oriented, technology-driven, community-focused, and fully attentive to its constitutional duties.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Sen. Ibrahim Gaidam, announced this during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Divisional Police Headquarters and six Rank and File Quarters funded by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) at Mpape over the weekend.
Speaking through the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Yusuf Argungu, the Minister commended the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) to address security challenges in the Bwari Area Council and create a supportive environment for residents and local businesses.
“The establishment of this divisional police headquarters in this area will safeguard citizens as they go about their daily routines from threats such as kidnapping, scams, robbery, and other related crimes affecting individuals in the city,” Argungu said.
He encouraged the police force to collaborate with the community in the area and other law enforcement agencies in the city to fulfil their duty of upholding the law and prosecuting offenders.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, pointed out that the groundbreaking ceremony reflects their ongoing dedication to efficient law enforcement and community interaction.
Represented by the Commissioner of Police FCT Command, Olatunji Disu, the IG expressed eagerness to complete the project to create a safer environment for all citizens.
