The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a zero percent import duty on compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) equipment.
This decision aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s strategy to enhance the investment climate, bolster energy security, and transition Nigeria to cleaner energy sources.
The exemptions include machinery, spare parts, conversion kits, and infrastructure for CNG and LPG expansion, now also zero-rated for VAT. Importers must secure an Import Duty Exemption Certificate (IDEC) and a letter of support from the presidential energy adviser.
The move, effective since December 9, 2024, will reduce cooking gas costs nationwide.
