Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze has been ruled out of their Premier League match against Arsenal at Selhurst Park on Saturday due to a foot injury.
The 26-year-old aggravated the issue during Wednesday’s 3-2 League Cup quarter-final defeat to the Gunners, having first sustained the injury in last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Brighton.
Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed Eze’s absence in Friday’s pre-match press conference. “We have no one back yet, but we do have one more injury: Ebs is unavailable,” Glasner said.
“He (Eberechi Eze) got a hit against Brighton on his foot. He played with quite a swollen foot at the Emirates and also got another knock there, so he is not 100 percent. “We need every player fully fit, so we decided to rest him, and hopefully he will be available for Bournemouth,” he said.
Glasner downplayed the severity of the injury but acknowledged that Eze’s discomfort was affecting his performance.
Palace heads into the game looking to extend their unbeaten Premier League run to six matches. They are currently 15th in the table, four points above the relegation zone, following victories over Ipswich and Brighton and draws against Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Manchester City.
Glasner highlighted the packed schedule during the festive period, with three matches in six days presenting a significant challenge.
Palace fans will be hoping Eze’s recovery is swift as the team navigates a demanding fixture list over the holiday period.
