Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old son of Tiger Woods, scored his first hole-in-one during the last round of the PNC Championship, but the title went to Bernhard and Jason Langer after a play-off.
Charlie made an impressive shot on the par-three fourth hole, which put the father-son duo in the lead at the tournament, featuring 20 major champions teamed with their family members.
However, it was Bernhard Langer’s team that hoisted the trophy for the second year in a row and their fourth overall win in Orlando, Florida, as he made an eagle on the first hole of the play-off to clinch the victory.
“It was amazing,” Charlie remarked. “Everyone played well today, so it was one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had.”
Tiger Woods competed in his first event since the Open Championship in July. The 15-time major champion underwent back surgery in September for the second time in 18 months and admitted he was “nowhere near competition-ready” for this PGA-associated exhibition.
Charlie wasn’t the only one to achieve a hole-in-one for the first time on Sunday. About 30 minutes after Charlie’s shot, Paddy Harrington, the 21-year-old son of three-time major champion Padraig Harrington, also aced the eighth hole.
