Justice Emeka Nwite of the High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of four suspected terrorists allegedly linked to notorious bandit kingpin Bello Turji at the Kuje Correctional Centre.
In a brief ruling, Justice Nwite made the order after the defendants pleaded not guilty to an 11-count charge related to terrorism.
The judge adjourned the matter until February 10 for trial.
The four suspects—Musa Kamarawa, Abubakar Hashimu (also known as ‘Doctor’), Samuel Chinedu, and Lucky Chukwuma—denied the charges when the 11 counts were read to them.
Although eight defendants were listed in the charge, three, including Bello Turji, are still at large. The Federal Government, through the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, represented by Lateef Fagbemi, had filed the 11-count charge against the suspects, four of whom remain on the run.
The suspects are accused of providing material support to terrorist groups by procuring and supplying illicit drugs, such as penta injections and cannabis plants, as well as food items, military and police uniforms, and camouflage gear.
