The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has highlighted the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in boosting development across key sectors such as agriculture and healthcare.
Speaking in Jigawa State, northwestern Nigeria, Abdullahi explained how AI technologies can revolutionise agricultural practices by introducing precision farming and predictive analytics to improve yields and efficiency. In healthcare, he noted AI’s capacity to enable early disease detection and provide personalised treatment options, significantly improving patient outcomes.
Abdullahi stressed the importance of strategic partnerships and collaborations to maximise AI’s potential. He called for increased investment in AI research, capacity building, and the development of ethical and regulatory frameworks to guide its implementation.
This initiative is part of NITDA’s broader commitment to driving digital transformation and leveraging emerging technologies to accelerate Nigeria’s socio-economic progress. The agency aims to position Nigeria as a leader in AI adoption, fostering innovation across industries critical to national development.
