Indian rescue teams, including military divers, are working tirelessly to save several coal miners trapped in a flooded shaft in Assam’s Dima Hasao region.
At least nine men remain stuck underground following the incident on Monday, with reports suggesting that three bodies have been spotted. Local accounts indicate that 27 workers were in the mine when water began flooding the pit, though many managed to escape.
State minister Kaushik Rai confirmed that over 100 rescuers, including soldiers and divers, are involved in the rescue effort. Images from the military show divers in scuba gear being lowered into the shaft to locate and retrieve the miners.
