Femi Otedola, a renowned billionaire investor and key player in Nigeria’s capital market, has been awarded “Investor of the Year 2024” by The Nation newspaper. The recognition follows the strong performance of two of his companies, Geregu Power and FBN Holdings.
Otedola’s involvement in FBN Holdings, where he was appointed Chairman in January 2024, led to significant reforms that transformed the financial giant. His strategic foresight and leadership have not only revived FBN Holdings but also driven substantial returns for investors. Under his guidance, FBN Holdings saw a remarkable 128% increase in profit before tax, reaching N610.86 billion by Q3 2024.
Additionally, Otedola’s power company, Geregu Power, which was listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 2023, sustained a bullish market performance. The company’s stock price rose by 1,050% in 2024, closing the year at N1,150 per share and achieving a market capitalization exceeding N2.88 trillion.
Otedola’s influence has been described as a “Midas touch,” with his investments in both companies delivering higher returns and transforming the capital market landscape. His business acumen and commitment to governance have positioned both companies for continued success, solidifying his status as one of Nigeria’s most influential investors.
