Thirty-two-year-old Timileyin Ajayi has been remanded at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nasarawa State Police Command in Lafia for the murder of 24-year-old Salome Eleojo Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.
Salome, who worked at Nicon Insurance in Abuja, was killed during a visit to Ajayi’s home in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government, Nasarawa State.
Ajayi was apprehended on Sunday, January 12, 2025, while attempting to dispose of Salome’s dismembered remains. Paraded by police alongside the weapons used in the crime, Ajayi confessed, claiming the act was not premeditated but motivated by jealousy over her alleged infidelity.
“I killed her because we don’t have each other all the time… She was cheating. I saw her chats with other guys on her phone,” Ajayi stated, adding he had no regrets.
Salome’s family, unaware of any relationship between the two, expressed their anguish and demanded justice. Her uncle, Samson Adaidu, described the horrific nature of the crime, noting that her body was dismembered into over 50 pieces.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, assured the public that Ajayi would face prosecution. “Investigation is ongoing, and justice will be served,” he affirmed.
Ajayi, who claimed to be a cryptocurrency trader, remains in custody pending further investigation.
