The House of Representatives has announced the passing of Mrs. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, Deputy Chief Whip and representative of the Ikenne, Sagamu, and Remo North Federal Constituency in Ogun State.
According to a statement from House Spokesperson Mr. Akin Rotimi, Mrs. Onanuga died earlier today, January 15, 2025, following a brief illness.
Serving in her second term, she was remembered as a committed public servant, an inspiring leader, and a tireless advocate for her constituents. Her peers praised her remarkable leadership and steadfast dedication to upholding legislative order during parliamentary sessions.
The House highlighted her significant contributions to Nigeria’s political sphere, emphasising her drive to foster societal progress and her relentless pursuit of public service excellence.
In a message of condolence, the Green Chamber expressed profound sympathies to Mrs. Onanuga’s family, friends, and colleagues, as well as the people and government of Ogun State, particularly those in Ikenne, Sagamu, and Remo North. The National Assembly as a whole mourns her loss.
