Ahead of his inauguration, billionaire Republican Donald Trump arrived in Washington on Saturday. Before retaking the presidency, the billionaire will attend several events and festivities.
Trump, his wife Melania, and other family members landed at Dulles International Airport on their way to his golf club in Virginia, which is outside of Washington, for a private ceremony that will include fireworks.
After taking office, Trump intends to sign a record number of executive orders, starting “right after” his inaugural address on Monday, he told NBC News earlier on Saturday.
He said it is still unclear how many orders he will sign after entering office, but it will be “record-setting.”
“At least in that category,” Trump responded when asked if it would surpass 100.
Many of the initiatives implemented during the departing administration of President Joe Biden are anticipated to be reversed by orders signed by the president-elect.
A mass deportation scheme is also one of Trump’s pledges for the first day of his new term.
Trump told NBC that the removal of unauthorised migrants would “begin very, very quickly.”
Since things are changing, I am unable to identify which cities. Furthermore, I don’t believe we want to reveal the city. During the phone interview, he stated, “You’ll witness it directly.”
Trump’s “border czar,” hardline immigration official Tom Homan, told The Washington Post on Saturday that the incoming government was reconsidering its initial actions in the wake of media disclosures.
The Trump administration reportedly planned a significant raid in Chicago on Tuesday, according to many US outlets.
Homan told the newspaper that Trump’s team “hasn’t made a decision yet.”
“We are investigating this leak and will base our decision on it.”
Homan continued by saying that the incoming administration will detain those they consider to be “public safety threats” from “day one” and said he was unsure of why Chicago was the subject of media attention.
“With no restrictions from previous administration directives, we will be making arrests all over the nation,” he declared.
Trump said on Friday that the ceremony would now take place indoors due to the abnormally chilly weather anticipated for Washington. Previous inaugurations have taken place on the steps of the US Capitol, which overlooks the National Mall.
He said to NBC, “I believe we made the right choice.” “The cold was starting to get to me, and I believe that many people would have been in danger.”
Trump is anticipated to lay a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery on Sunday after his private party on Saturday, and then he will go to a rally of his fans in Washington.
Additionally, on Sunday, he is expected to speak at a dinner event.
On Saturday, thousands of protesters marched against Trump’s policies through the streets of Washington.
