The complainant Judges’ Secretary, Andiswa Mengo, will continue to testify before the Judicial Conduct Tribunal, which is looking into sexual harassment claims against Eastern Cape Judge President Selby Mbenenge.
Mengo had accused Mbenenge of sexual harassment in both in-person and online interactions between June 2021 and November 2022.
Before filing a formal complaint, Mengo testified yesterday that she suggested holding a roundtable with other judges to confront the judge president, halt the alleged approaches, and request the judges’ assistance.
“I wanted these judges whose presence I had requested to intervene and hear these things that were being done by the JP (Judge President),” she stated.
