Police in Ogun State have successfully rescued the wife of former Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, after she was abducted last week.
The operation resulted in the deaths of the kidnappers and the recovery of ransom money they had received.
The police force acted quickly following the kidnapping, which occurred on Thursday at the Odumosu family’s home in the Arepo area.
The abduction took place when the victim, Folashade Odumosu, was forcefully taken from her vehicle by armed assailants. The kidnappers transported her through a swampy path to an undisclosed location, sparking an immediate manhunt by the police.
After days of intense search, operatives located the criminals and carried out a successful rescue operation.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that Mrs. Odumosu was freed unharmed during the rescue. He also mentioned that the ransom money, which had been used to lure the kidnappers, was recovered from the criminals.
Adejobi further shared that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, expressed his appreciation to the officers involved in the operation, as well as to the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Lanre Ogunlowo, for their effective leadership.
“Police neutralised AIG Hakeem Odumosu’s wife Kidnappers, recovered ransom. The IGP has commended the Police Operatives and CP Ogun State, Lanre Ogunlowo, for a good job.
“We are committed to safeguarding Nigerian citizens and our dear country,” Adejobi said.
