President Bola Tinubu on Sunday extended his condolences to the government and people of Enugu State following the tragic fuel tanker explosion that claimed lives on Saturday.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed deep sorrow for the victims and urged traffic control agencies to implement stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
The explosion occurred when the fuel tanker lost control and burst into flames while navigating the Ugwu-Onyeama section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
Tinubu commiserated with the families of the deceased, wished the injured a swift recovery, and called for increased safety precautions, particularly among fuel tanker operators. The explosion follows a similar tragedy in Niger State earlier this week, which killed over 80 people.
He has also directed agencies to enforce measures to prevent further fuel tanker accidents nationwide.
