According to officials, Russia carried out nighttime attacks on energy facilities in the Odesa region of southern Ukraine on Wednesday, causing the Black Sea territory to lose power and killing at least one person.
Moscow has increased its use of drones and missiles against Ukraine, despite growing rhetoric in Moscow and Washington about possible cease-fire negotiations.
“Part of the city has been left without electricity, water, and heat, and critical infrastructure has been damaged,” regional authorities declared.
Emergency services issued photos of firefighters battling blazes and characterised the damage as “large-scale.”

A 77-year-old man was killed by shrapnel in a town west of Odesa city, according to the governor.
Separately, the governor of Kherson, a nearby region, reported that a 55-year-old person had died in Kherson City.
Moscow did not immediately respond to the attacks with any comments.
According to the Ukrainian air force, Kyiv shot down 115 of the Russian drones, while Russia launched 181 drones, including the Iranian-designed Shahed attack unmanned aerial vehicles and four missiles.
