Former World Bank Vice President and ex-presidential candidate in Nigeria’s February 16 polls, Oby Ezekwesili has resigned her membership of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria or ACPN, whose platform she had earlier been given a ticket to contest.
Ezekwesili said this at a briefing in the Nigerian capital, Abuja on Monday in reaction to allegations of financial mismanagement by her former party concerning donations to her presidential campaign.
After giving an account of all monies received by the campaign through aides, she informed journalists and supporters that she had returned her party membership card to the ACPN leadership. She added the party was fixated on monies rather than votes.
She has now promised to put her strength into fixing politics in Nigeria by focusing on opening a school for governance and political leadership.
Ezekwesili also announced a website for all citizens to “fix a new political order in Nigeria.”
“She is quitting the presidential race but she is not quitting the fight for Nigeria,” an associate of Ezekwesili said.
