After exactly 284 days since a ball was last kicked in the Nigeria Professional Football League, play will resume again on Sunday the 27th of December.
The new season is starting after the last was abruptly ended as as result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The game was decided on Points-per-game system with Plateau Utd emerging champions while Rivers, Enyimba and Kano Pillars all earned continental berths.
The last game of the league was played on the 18th of March and nine months since the break, proceedings will resume on Nigeria’s local scene.
The new season comes with new adjustments as the now global five substitutions is introduced to the league. Also, there will be a sleeve-length handball rule.
This season promises to be a more interesting one than the last which saw 494 goals scored in 246 matches. It also had more away wins being recorded than in previous years.
