In the latest of such dramatic stories, Cameroon international and Royal Antwerp forward, Didier Lamkel Ze did the unexpected when he turned up at his club’s base in a rival team’s jersey to force a transfer away from the club.
Lamkel Ze turned up in an Anderlecht jersey, attempting to force an entry into the club house. His jersey read Congolese international, Yanick Bolasie’s name.
Lamkel Ze is being linked with a move to Greek club, Panathinaikos where he wants to team up with his former coach at Antwerp, Laszlo Boloni.
He has since apologised for his actions and said he hopes to represent the team again.
“I sincerely apologise to the club and the Antwerp supporters because they are magnificent and wonderful fans who have always supported me,” he said.
“If I reacted like that, it is because my head was elsewhere with the transfer, it wasn’t easy for me. I’m so sorry for my actions.
“I won’t forget how my teammates and the technical staff have supported me in the dressing room since my arrival here.
“I’m ready for the club if the new coach needs me. I hope to be in front of the supporters very soon on the pitch.”
