Ghana’s Parliament has approved the nomination of Ken Ofori-Atta as Minister of Finance.
Ken Ofori-Atta has been Ghana’s Finance Minister for four years now. He was re-nominated by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo – his direct cousin – for another term of office.
Atta’s approval did not come without a few uproar particularly from the opposition. Minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu described the Minister as having performed unsatisfactorily when he appeared before the house.
Iddrisu says Atta will probably go and bear the brunt of his mismanagement of the Ghanaian economy in the last four years, and bear the brunt of his inability to reconcile his fiscal data because he currently bears the brunt for not providing enough details of how much the bank of Ghana finance the government of Ghana in the 2020 period.
Kenneth Ofori-Atta, is a Ghanaian economist, investment banker, and politician was appointed by President Nana Akufo-Addo on 10 January 2017 and assumed office on 27 January 2017.
