Libya has received its shipment of 101,250 doses of Russia’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine which arrived in the capital Tripoli.
Libya’s Interim Prime minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah affirmed in a tweet that this will be the first shipment reaching Libya.
Abdul Hamid Dbeibah called it Libya’s first raindrop while thanking God they are able to supply the first batch of Corona Vaccine which is dependent on the rest of the shipments arriving in succession.
Libya with a population of over 6 million has recorded over 160,000 infected cases and 2,757 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic.
A vaccination campaign is expected to begin soon and Libya’s Minister of Health Ali Zanati will be the first to receive the vaccine.
