A raging inferno, on Thursday night engulfed the fabrics section of popular Kairo market in Oshodi, Lagos, Nigeria’s centre of commerce, with millions of properties lost in the accident.
Locals looked on and provided early remedial actions before the arrival of Nigeria’s federal fire service men in conjunction with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
The inferno has since been put out, with concerns raised about the regularity of fire accidents in Lagos markets.
There is no cause ascribed to the fire outbreak yet, as LASEMA said its Eagle Squad and Fire Unit we’re on ground to scuttle more damage being done by the fire.
Lagos, Nigeria’s economic epicentre is home to many markets comprising hundreds of stalls and heavy business presence, and has a rather uninspiring history with fire accidents.
LASEMA says no casualty has been recorded in this latest mishap.
