Rising from the cabinet meeting convened on Saturday, June 12, former Local Government Minister Anastase Shyaka was appointed Rwanda’s new envoy to the Republic of Poland.
In a similar appointment, former Health Minister Diane Gashumba is the country’s new envoy to the Kingdom of Sweden.
Gashumba, a pediatrician by training served as Health Minister between October 2016 and February 2020. Before then, she was Minister of Gender and Family Promotion.
Shake on the other hand was the Local Government Minister from October 2018 to March 2021.
Prior to that, he worked as CEO of Rwanda Governance Board since 2011.
Also, Michel Minega Sebera who was the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Commerce got appointed as the Minister-Counselor in the Rwanda Embassy in the Kingdom of Netherlands while Winnie Ngamije was appointed as the Deputy Director-General of Rwandan Civil Aviation Authority.
Meanwhile, the meeting also approved Antoine Anfre as the Ambassador of France to Rwanda,becoming the first French ambassador to Rwanda since 2015.
Both countries are currently working to mend their frosty relationship as French President Emmanuel Macron visited Rwanda last month.
Diplomatic relationship between both countries has remained strained since the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Macron’s admission follows the French government-sponsored Duclert’s report which fingered France’s role as a major player in the genocide as accused by Rwandans.
