Zambian President, Edgar Lungu has officially declared April 28 as a public holiday to honour the life and legacy of late President Kenneth Kaunda.
Kaunda who was born on the 28th of April 1924 and died on the 17th of June, 2021 was laid to rest in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia.
While officiating Kaunda’s burial at the presidential site, President Edgar Lungu called on citizens to follow the footsteps of the former leader by emulating the culture of peace and love.
Kaunda served as the first president of Zambia from 1964 to 1991.
He played a pivotal role in the struggle for independence from British rule.
