The European Union Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM) and the European Operation IRINI have signed a new agreement with the authorities to enhance cooperation and coordination regarding Libya’s border management.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Mission which noted that the agreement signed by the EUBAM Head, Natalina Chea and Commander of Operation, Rear Admiral, Fabio Agostioni was in line with the European Union’s integrated approach.
The working arrangement is expected to improve cooperation and create synergies in assisting Libyan authorities at territorial and maritime borders.
EUBAM is a civilian initiative contributing to the efforts of the Libyan authorities to disrupt organised crime networks especially those involved in migrant smuggling, human trafficking and violence.
