Last year, Cameroon shipped a total of 19,000 tons of wood veneers to the European Union (EU), up 28% from 2017, according to the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO).
This is the highest increase in all tropical wood veneer exports to the EU over the period.
Higher volumes were also observed in Côte d’Ivoire (+14% to 30,700 tons) and Congo (+15 to 11,100 tons), ITTO reported. I Adversely in Ghana, wood veneer shipments dropped 10% to 5,000 tons, Equatorial Guinea (-2% to 4,400 tons) and Indonesia (-18% to 2,600 tons).
Gabon, a major supplier to EU, also saw its sales to the region decline over the period reviewed.
