Algeria’s state-owned carrier, Air Algerie, on Monday was forced to re-schedule flights for the second day in a row over thick fog that swept through the coastal region of the country.
The Algerian carrier on its official Twitter account, stated:
“Due to zero visibility, and adverse weather conditions (freezing fog), all of Air Algerie flights are affected by disruptions.”
It added that this alert “remains in effect” until climatic conditions improve.
In addition to the preventive measures taken by the national company, several flight tracker websites, posted images showing foreign airplanes, serving in particular the capital Algiers, making U-turn when approaching the Algerian coast due to lack of visibility.
Im the past few days, dense fog has been observed over the northern region of Algeria, as road safety authorities also advised commuters to drive carefully.
