Ukraine is set to withdraw Troops from Congo where it has over 250 soldiers to redeploy them to combat invading Russian troops at home.
Its most important assignment was in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where it stationed roughly 250 Ukrainian troops.
They will soon leave along with their eight helicopters and other military equipment.
The United Nations says it is assessing the implications of Ukraine’s decision and complimented the country’s “strong contribution” in the Democratic Republic of Congo and other countries.
The UN’s peacekeeping force in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Monusco, said talks were underway on how to manage the pullout.
It should be recalled that on March 9, News Central reported that Ukraine was set to withdraw all of its Forces and equipment from all U.N Missions in Africa and Europe, including helicopters, to assist in the fight against Russian troops.
On Tuesday, local Ukrainian media reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had ordered all Ukrainian soldiers and commanders serving on UN peacekeeping missions to return home and join the struggle against Russian forces.
