The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged political rivals to abandon any hopes of reversing the policies of President Bola Tinubu‘s administration.

The ruling party called for cooperation in implementing the president’s “Renewed Hope” agenda aimed at improving the country’s well-being.

The APC also dismissed accusations from the opposition, specifically the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), that it manipulated the recent September 21 governorship election in Edo State.

The opposition had claimed that the election was rigged as part of a broader plan by the APC to impose a one-party system in Nigeria.

During a press briefing following a meeting of the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT) at its national headquarters in Abuja, BoT Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara voiced concerns over the nation’s worsening socio-economic situation, which he attributed to APC’s policies.

Responding to these allegations, APC’s Director of Publicity, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, spoke in an interview on Friday, firmly denying any attempts by the ruling party to undermine democracy. He stressed that the APC, as a progressive party, is dedicated to bringing positive changes that will benefit the people.

Ibrahim added that the policies of the APC-led government are designed to improve the socio-economic well-being of Nigerians in the near future, and urged the opposition to set aside any thoughts of reversing these policies, calling for unity in supporting the government’s efforts to bring about positive change.

“The APC as a ruling party is not intending to foist on the country anything that is going to injure democracy.

“The APC is a progressive party; it is a party that is out to bring changes that will bring about dividend of democracy to the people. Democracy is only vibrant when there is opposition, but let the opposition be constructive, not destructive.

“The country had been bleeding heavily under the leadership of the PDP; they mismanaged the country. So Nigerians are still watching and beginning to understand what change means,” he said.
