Abandoned Bomb Explodes In Ethiopia, Kills Three

At least three people have been killed in Ethiopia after an abandoned bomb exploded on Sunday in the capital city, Addis Ababa, a state news agency has reported.

Ethiopia News Agency said the explosion happened at the Lideta area, near Addis Ababa’s centre. It killed three homeless people and injured five others.

Recall that thousands of people were killed and many others displaced in Ethiopia’s Tigray region in a conflict between the federal authorities and the northern region.

The abandoned bomb is suspected to be a part of those used during the conflict. There are however no strong links to accentuate the insinuation.

“An investigation regarding the explosion is now going on and the public will be informed once the investigation is completed,” the agency reported.

Ethiopia’s government has announced the explosion of several small bombs since Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed came into power.

The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has been accused of masterminding most of the explosions, with the state not providing enough evidence to back its claims.

Meanwhile, the Ethiopian government is yet to announce the origin of the explosion as fears keep growing about a possible reprisal from the TPLF forces.
