Abba Kyari, the suspended deputy commissioner of police (DCP), has sued the Nigerian Government, saying that the allegations against him by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) are “trumped-up”.
The NDLEA declared Kyari wanted on February 14 for his involvement in a 25kg cocaine trade. Police announced his arrest and subsequent transfer to the NDLEA custody a few hours later.
The NDLEA’s announcement comes months after the FBI charged Kyari with colluding with Hushpuppi, a self-described international fraudster, in a $1.1 million scheme aimed at Qatari businesspeople.
