A middle-aged woman has been crushed to death on the Abuja-Kaduna rail track around the Kubwa area of Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.
The incident happened at about 10am on Thursday when a woman in her private vehicle rammed into an oncoming passenger train from Kaduna around Chikakore axis in the Kubwa Area council.
The location is approximately five minutes from the Kubwa Train Station, Abuja.
In a swift response, the FCT Police Command upon receipt of the information sent Crime scene investigators attached to the Byazin Divisional Police Headquarters to the scene.
Speaking to the press, the FCT PPRO Josephine Adeh said the victim “was confirmed dead by medical practitioner on ground.”
Adding that, in conjunction with the Rail way division having jurisdiction over the track, investigation into the remote causes of the accident has commenced.
“Findings and safety tips already existing will be reiterated to ensure a non repeat of incident shortly,” she said.
The remains of the woman has been evacuated by security personnel while the damaged vehicle was immediately removed from the rail track in order forestall further accidents.
