AC Milan’s struggles deepened on Saturday as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at Torino, with a bizarre own goal and a missed penalty compounding their misery.
The loss leaves Sergio Conceicao’s side seventh in Serie A, six points adrift of the Champions League spots.
Milan’s night got off to a disastrous start just five minutes in, when goalkeeper Mike Maignan rushed out to clear the ball, only to smash it against Malick Thiaw’s back, sending it ricocheting into his net.
Their troubles worsened in the 33rd minute when Christian Pulisic squandered a penalty—his first career miss from the spot—after Torino’s Vanja Milinkovic-Savic made a brilliant save.

Despite the setbacks, Milan found a lifeline in the 76th minute when Tijjani Reijnders netted a stunning strike to level the score.
However, just two minutes later, Gvidas Gineitis took advantage of a quickly taken free kick to restore Torino’s lead, securing all three points for the hosts.
The defeat follows Milan’s midweek Champions League exit to Feyenoord, where Theo Hernandez’s reckless red card proved costly.
Despite their poor form, Milan can climb back into top-four contention if they win their game in hand against Bologna on Thursday.
Bologna themselves endured a setback, falling 2-0 to Parma, who moved out of the relegation zone with their first win in eight games.
Meanwhile, Serie A leaders Inter Milan will have the chance to reclaim the top spot when they host revitalised Genoa on Sunday.
