Recent Happenings

International football player Achraf Hakimi of Morocco has gained worldwide attention after his wife learned he owns nothing despite earning millions of euros with Paris Saint-Germain and the Moroccan national team.

The footballer’s wife, Hiba Abouk, filed for divorce and requested a half-share of the property and money he held. This revelation was made during the current divorce procedures in court.

She was shocked to see that Hakimi had listed all of his assets in his mother’s name and would ask her to make purchases for him anytime he needed something.

Millions of dollars in pay were deposited in accounts with his mother’s name on them, and it was discovered that all of his homes, cars, clothes, and jewellery were registered in her name.

According to the reports, his mother’s name is listed as the owner of 80% of everything he possesses.

Even though his marriage to the Spanish actress had already been deteriorating for months, Hakimi’s investigation for alleged rape in Paris, France, was the final straw.

Hakimi’s decision to not have his fortune registered in his name made headlines throughout the world, and although some praised him for being “wise” and a living legend for protecting his assets, others condemned him and his mother.

What Some People Had to Say

“Give this man the African football player of the Year award immediately. We are also working tirelessly to have him as the guest of honor at the next men’s conference,” said Elijah Edwin from Uganda.

“They’ve just been married for three years, and she wants half his property already. If they were married for 20 years she would have requested for his life alongside the entire properties. Black athletes should learn from this,” added Somto.

“This is not right. Yes, things may have happened that led to their divorce. But she is a human being who sacrificed two years of her life with Hakimi. She gave him something every human needs; companionship. She deserves to leave with something,” countered James Atite Sr.
“Marriage is going to lose value if a woman can spend years in marriage and leave without any additional value,” said Nabadda Sumayiya.
