Adamawa Goes PDP: Party Sweeps All 21 Local Governments

PDP Denounces Unauthorised Social Media Account

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won all 21 council seats in the recently concluded Local Government (LG) elections in Adamawa State.

According to the results just released by the State Independent Electoral Commission, the party also secured all the councillorship seats in the 226 wards except the Demsa Ward of the Demsa Local Government Area, where the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) won one councillorship seat.

Announcing the results on Sunday, the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Mohammed Umar, said the ruling party secured a landslide in all 21 local government councils of the state, adding that 12 of the 19 registered political parties participated in the exercise.

The Adamawa local government election is the first since the Supreme Court’s landmark judgment that granted financial autonomy to the third tier of government, effectively removing local government chairmen from the apron strings of the governor.
