In response to the renewed tensions between Ilobu and Ifon battling communities, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has imposed a new curfew schedule from 6 PM to 6 AM daily until enduring peace is achieved.
Governor Ademola Adeleke had previously ordered a curfew after persistent clashes between the two communities.
The revised curfew hours from 6 PM to 6 AM were shared in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, who quoted Governor Adeleke expressing his disappointment over the resurgence of the conflict in these communities.
“His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, has expressed unhappiness and dissatisfaction with the breakout of fresh communal crises in Ilobu and Ifon.
To this end, the Governor has directed that the initial 10 PM to 4 AM curfew be extended to 6 PM to 6 AM, effective today, Friday, March 21, 2025, until further notice.

Mr. Governor has equally directed that the joint security team comprising the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps maintain their usual 24-hour surveillance to ensure zero tolerance for any act of lawlessness.”
Additionally, the Governor has called for an urgent stakeholders’ meeting involving the Olufon of Ifon, HRM Oba Peter Oluwole Akinyooye, HRM Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan, the Olobu of Ilobu, and other representatives from both communities to convene tomorrow, Saturday, March 22, 2025, to discuss further solutions to the conflict.
The governor appealed to all residents of the two communities and their traditional leaders to embrace peace and coexistence adding that those found facilitating violence will face appropriate consequences.
