AFCON 2022 has seen Cameroon and Gambia lead in the release of players expected to feature.
Cameroon coach, Antonio Conceiçao Oliveira was the first coach to release a 40-man provisional squad ahead of the African Cup of Nations beginning on the 9th of January, 2022.
Oliveira released a list of players for AFCON comprising regular suspects Eric Choupo-Moting, Andre Onana, Zambo Anguisaa, Vincent Aboubakar, Clinton Njie, Christian Bassogog, Karl Toko-Ekambi, Jerome Onguene and a host of others.
Joining Cameroon to release a squad list for AFCON was Tom Saintfiet, Gambia’s coach who invited Bologna attacker, Modou Barrow and France-born Saint Etienne midfielder, Mahdi Camara.
The African Cup of Nations will begin in Cameroon on the 9th of January and will end on the 6th of February.
Cameroon are drawn in group A alongside Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde and Ethiopia.
Gambia on their part have been drawn against Mali, Mauritania, and Tunisia in their very first appearance at Africa’s biggest football showpiece.
Other coaches are expected to release their squad lists in the coming days.
