The Head coach of the Cote d’Ivoire national Football team, Jean Louis Gasset has not gotten over the pains of defeat after their 0-1 defeat to the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Thursday.
The Elephants were clear favourites to win their second successive Group A game at the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2023 after beating Guinea-Bissau in their first game.
But they struggled against the Nigerians and eventually conceded a penalty in the second half.
Nigeria captain, William Troost-Ekong took the penalty and scored the winning goal.
The Super Eagles are beating Ivory Coast on their soil for the first time in 10 attempts.
“We could not impose ourselves physically but it was the small details that favoured Nigeria,” Gasset said.
Ivory Coast will meet Equatorial Guinea in their final group game on Monday, while Nigeria will play Guinea-Bissau at the same time.
