AfDB Appoints New Acting VP For Regional Development, Integration, Service Delivery (News Central TV)

With effect from August 1, Mrs. Marie-Laure Akin-Olugbade, has been appointed acting vice president of the African Development Bank’s, AfDB, regional development, integration, and business delivery complex.

Akin-Olugbade, a Cameroonian, is the Director General of the Business Development and Delivery Office for the Bank Group’s West Africa Region, where she supervises the institution’s largest group of Country Managers.

Her job entails engaging in sophisticated cross-border operations as well as the full range of the Bank’s lending and non-lending operations in transition states and middle- and low-income nations.

She is in charge of managing the $9 billion West Africa portfolio’s expedited results delivery in a variety of frequently difficult and high-pressure circumstances, including those in the Sahel region.

She is a seasoned senior executive who places a strong emphasis on performance, with nearly to 30 years of experience in capital markets, treasury, asset management, product development, and debt management at the AfDB.

Notably, she was the team leader that conceived of and secured funding for the historic Accra-Pokuase Junction, West Africa’s first four-tier interchange.

Olugbade will serve as the West Africa Business Development and Service Delivery Office’s deputy director general. In 2018, she was appointed Director General.

Akin-Olugbade is a graduate of the Université Paris-Dauphine and Université Panthéon-Sorbonne in France, where she earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Management and a Master’s degree in Applied Economics, respectively.

Mrs. Marie-Laure Akin-Olugbade will serve in her new position as the until a substantive Vice President is selected, and Dr. Adesina expressed his pleasure at her appointment.

“Marie-Laure, a respected professional and business leader, will ensure that the Bank operates successfully across its regional member countries and will oversee the full implementation of all aspects of the Bank’s regional directorates”, he added.

Commenting on her appointment, she said: “I am deeply humbled and honoured by the confidence that Dr. Adesina has shown in me to serve in this critical leadership role.
