Eight African countries will benefit from the $3.39 million African development bank funding recently announced in Ghana.

17 new small and medium scale enterprises in the agribusiness sector will benefit from this funding.

According to AFT coordinator, Jonas Chianu, the countries, namely, Ghana, Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Malawi, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Nigeria as well as Senegal will begin the $3.39m grant to conduct project preparation studies to eliminate take-off barriers, thereby developing a pipeline of bankable projects.

Target projects range from rural feeder roads to irrigation, agro-processing, marketing facilities, and outgrower schemes.

On its part, AfDB’s country manager from Ghana, Yero Baldeh, noted that the development of agriculture and agribusiness lies at the heart of the bank’s priorities.
