The Taliban government in Afghanistan has announced its intention to enforce a new law that prohibits media outlets from publishing images of living beings.
The Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice stated that the rule will be implemented gradually across the country.
A spokesperson for the ministry, Saiful Islam Khyber, explained that the law applies to all regions of Afghanistan. He said the process will be carried out step-by-step, aiming to persuade people that displaying images of living creatures goes against Islamic teachings.
Khyber added that the ministry plans to introduce the law progressively, ensuring that the public understands its religious basis.
Media outlets and journalists have been informed that they will need to comply with the new regulations as the enforcement expands.
