Africa’s largest economy, Nigeria heads to the polls Saturday, February 25, to democratically elect its 16th president.

Nigeria has enjoyed 24 years of uninterrupted civilian government since 1999, with a presidential term limit of 4 years as stipulated by the fourth constitution of the Republic of Nigeria.

This year’s election marks a significant shift in power, as President Muhammadu Buhari, who has served two terms since 2015 under the All Progressives Congress, APC steps down from his position.

However, the upcoming election is not without its challenges. Nigeria has been plagued by various issues, including ballot box theft, election fraud, riots, vote buying, corruption, voter apathy, and a reliance on the electoral commission. Despite these challenges, can the Feb 25 election turn the tide and usher in a new era of political stability in Nigeria?
