African Anti-Corruption Day2021: Strategies For Transparent Management

Today is African Union Day of Anti-Corruption . The African Union annually marks its anti-corruption Day on 11th July. This is to draw the attention of Nigerians to the dangers of corruption to our nation and Africa as a whole.

The social unrests, poverty, conflicts and blood-letting permeating Africa and the world as a whole have a very close connection to corruption. The Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption felicitates with the African Union and urge all Africans to avoid corruption for a better continent.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Strategies and Mechanisms for the Transparent Management of Covid-19 Funds”.

In celebrating the day, Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Prof. Itse Sagay, SAN urged African leaders to lead from the front in fighting corruption for a better society on the continent.

“As fellow Nigerians and Africans can see, corruption poses an existential threat to the world. Even UNO is not spared. The high and mighty are accused of corruption. The private sector and the public sector are debilitated by corruption.

“The sports world is affected by corruption. Nations are experiencing unprecedented turmoil because of the ravages of corruption. Africa and Nigeria are no exception and are worse hit by corruption.

“I salute the African Union for keeping hope alive regarding the need to have a stable and prosperous Africa via checkmating corruption. I beseech all African leaders to lead from the front in fighting corruption for a better society on the continent,” he stated.
