African Leaders Meet in Brussels Ahead of EU-AU Summit (News Central TV)

Some African leaders gathered in Brussel, the capital of Belgium on Sunday to prepare for the European Union – African Union summit in February.

The delegation which included the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, president Macky Sall of Senegal and Paul Kagamé from Rwanda was received by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.

According to an EU official, the deliberations centred on the preparations for the summit, expected outcomes, the main themes and ideas to be addressed by the leaders.

A number of multilateral investments would be announced by the end of the Summit scheduled for mid-February.

Earlier in the year, the Second African Union – European Union Foreign Affairs Ministerial Meeting
held in Kigali, Rwanda, October 25 – 26, 2021.

In attendance were the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States of the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) under the Co-Chairpersonship of H.E. Christophe Lutundula Apala Pen’ Apala, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Chairperson of the African Union Executive Council,
and H.E Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission
