Kenyan athlete Lucy Kabuu Wangui has been banned for two years after testing positive for a banned performance enhancing drug.

The Athletics Integrity Unit of the IAAF announced the ban on social media stating that it takes effect from August 1, 2018, meaning the athlete will be eligible to compete after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Kabuu was suspended after her samples tested positive for narcotic morphine, during the Milano City Marathon which she won in April.

The 34 year old has twice finished in the top 10 of the Olympic 10,000m, at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, and won the Commonwealth Games gold medal at Melbourne in 2006.
