Air Peace has halted all flight services nationwide due to the ongoing strike by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

In a statement released on Wednesday, the airline announced that it is also suspending operations due to a lack of access to QNH (hazardous weather) reports, which are essential for safe landings.

“Due to the ongoing NiMet strike and the unavailability of QNH (hazardous weather) reports required for safe landings, Air Peace has suspended all flight operations nationwide until the strike is over,” Air Peace said.

Previously, the airline indicated that the NiMet strike might result in delays and cancellations of flights throughout its network.

Air Peace further stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and collaborating with relevant parties to reduce the impact on travellers’ plans.

NiMet employees began an indefinite nationwide strike today concerning welfare issues.

Some of the grievances include “NiMet’s refusal to negotiate or apply agreed financial allowances, along with unresolved claims,” such as wage awards, special allowances, and unpaid dues related to the 2019 minimum wage.

They also accused the agency’s management of withholding vital documents, disregarding requests to include omitted staff in previous payments, and neglecting crucial training programs in favour of executive retreats.
